The Barr Foundation’s Engage New England initiative, which invests in the design and launch of new school models for students who are off-track toward graduation, recently welcomed its…

Notes from the Field: Iteration in Action

If schools are truly built around the needs of young people, they must be living, breathing organizations that—like the young people they serve—never stop growing and adapting. We've learned that, in order to be successful, schools must commit to continue learning, designing, refining, improving—in the school's model design, the practices that evolve around it, both within the classroom and without.

Our 2016 Year in Review

Here at Springpoint, we have a lot to look forward to in 2017—new schools, a new partnership, and new tools and resources. As we reflect on 2016, we are energized and inspired by the great work of our partners, and the potential for intentionally designed schools to transform the lives of students.

Teaching the Teachers: How this PD for ELL Instructors Enhances School Community, Curriculum, & Assessments

As the Instructional Coach at INPS, I've supported our schools in honing an adaptive and enriching PD approach. Our robust PD sessions have strong content, but what makes these two high schools really special is how our teachers learn.

Scaling Education Transformation through Learner-Centered Design

A Conversation between Education Reimagined's Paul Haluszczak and Springpoint's Senior Director, Anna Hall.

One Good Question with Anna Hall: Can You Break Up With Your Best Ideas?

Our field collectively is investing in new school development and in the engines that can generate new designs for school. Those two things sometimes happen simultaneously, and sometimes run on parallel tracks.

Lessons Learned On Launching A New School

While many schools embark on their fourth week of school, two of our partners in Cleveland are embarking on their fourth month of school. Lincoln-West School of Global Studies and Lincoln-West School of Science & Health both opened their doors in early July after a robust design year supported by Springpoint.

How Community Partnerships Can Transform the High School Experience

There is a great deal of research on the benefit of school-community partnerships. As the assistant principal at International High School at Langley Park (IHSLP), I have seen firsthand the benefits that can unfold when partners work together to improve educational offerings for young people.

Springpoint Sessions at the 2016 iNACOL Symposium

This year, Springpoint will host four sessions at iNACOL's 2016 Symposium in San Antonio from October 25-28: an Ed Tech Q&A, an interactive design workshop, a teacher panel, and a StorySLAM featuring principals, teachers, and students telling their stories of new school start up.

How the Community Is Coming Together to Support Our English Language-Learners

Our partners at Springpoint use a set of 10 Integrated School Design Principles in their work to support the design, launch and iteration of innovative new high schools. These 10 principles are essential for schools working to prepare students for college and career opportunities.

Using the EdCamp Model to Personalize PD for Teachers

In Cleveland, we are working to design and open new, innovative schools that will meet the needs of our students, which differ from when many of us were in school ourselves. Through the process of designing these schools, we use 10 integrated school design principles to guide us. At the core of those principles are Mastery of Rigorous Standards and Personalized Student Learning. Planning for and implementing those two design principles is one of the biggest challenges we have come across so far.
